POLICE: victim appeared to be shot multiple times

Palm Bay police detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a Melbourne man in the 700 block of Alfonso Avenue SE. According to Lt. Steve Bland, the victim has been identified as 24-year-old Ashanti Jenkins of Melbourne.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay police detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a Melbourne man in the 700 block of Alfonso Avenue SE.

According to Palm Bay Police Public Information Officer Lt. Steve Bland, officers responded to reports of shots heard Sunday at approximately 1 a.m.

“Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male who appeared to be shot multiple times,” said Lt. Bland.

“Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians conducted interviews and processed the scene into the morning.”

According to Lt. Bland, the victim has been identified as 24-year-old Ashanti Jenkins of Melbourne.

The investigation is ongoing and the Major Case Unit will provide an update Monday.
