Police arrested a Florida man in Volusia County who stole a 76-year-old woman’s purse Thursday evening and nearly ran her over after she tried to chase him, according to police.

The incident was caught on surveillance footage at an Okeechobee McDonald’s as the woman was enjoying dinner inside the restaurant when Charles Alton Stratton Jr., 50, of Okeechobee, walked up and snatched her purse.

Stratton took off and the victim immediately jumped up and ran after him.

The video then shows the victim following the man out to his car, which was parked in a handicapped spot near the entrance to the restaurant.

When the victim opened the vehicle door to get her purse back, Stratton backed out of the parking space and ran over the victim.

Stratton was arrested on Saturday and faces charges of robbery, grand theft and aggravated battery with a vehicle.

The victim was treated for a head injury and is out of the hospital, according to the Okeechobee Police Department.
