BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – “A Splash of Art Therapy” is the theme of the Brevard Watercolor Society’s 24th Annual Watercolor Show, set for Saturday, February 16 from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Brevard Watercolor Watercolor Show will be held at the Azan Shrine Temple, located at 1591 W. Eau Gallie Boulevard in Melbourne.

“Life can be full of worry and stress and this event is your chance to briefly escape that tension,” said event spokesperson Barbara Rios.

“Come wrap yourself in color and visual images created by local artists, Participants range from beginners to master painters and creations will be shown in one or both galleries, judged and non-judged.”

Art can have therapeutic value for both the creator and the viewer. It can improve your overall mood and well-being, and promote awareness and self-exploration.

Enjoy viewing great art for free, browsing in the Marketplace for unframed originals and prints, taking chances on winning a great gift basket, and bidding in the silent auction.

A number of ongoing painting demonstrations will be interactive, so you can try your hand at “escaping reality.”

One of the highlights of the show is watching our sometimes-hilarious “paint-around” where five artists rotate their initial paintings and finish them within a not-so-generous time limit.

The Brevard Watercolor Society was established in 1995 and has a current membership of almost 200 members.

The watercolor society, its members and volunteers, are dedicated to promoting the beauty of watercolor painting and enriching the quality of life in our community through workshops, education, and exhibitions.
