Clever Energy installed 2,268 square feet of solar panels, will produce 82,560 kWh annually
BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA – Tito Visi of V&N Advanced Automation Systems, LLC recently became one of the first businesses in Rockledge to go solar.
Many cities are moving forward with initiatives to reduce their carbon footprint by replacing non-renewable energy with more sustainable energy solutions.
Today, Rockledge is taking a positive step in that direction by approving solar projects for commercial buildings.
The city of Rockledge has 11,304 businesses distributed into 11 private industries and nergy is one of the largest expenses in any business.
The commercial electricity rates in Rockledge average 8.72¢/kWh and commercial electricity consumption in Florida averages 6,609 kWh/month, which ranks 16th in the nation and is 5.95% greater than the national average of 6,238 kWh/month, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
In addition to direct consumption, electricity bills usually include additional charges and fees like storm charge, gross receipts tax, franchise charges, utility tax, etc. (specific charges vary amongst locations and providers).
Rockledge business owners may not realize that solar power installations on their property can be an economically viable way to both reduce their costs and reduce their carbon footprint.
Visi of V&N Advanced Automation Systems, LLC recently made this discovery.
His business, located on Gus Hipp Boulevard, was paying an average of $1,153 per month for electricity and after doing some research, he realized the benefits of adding solar power for his business.
Visi contacted Diego Garcia of Clever Energy, based in Orlando, Florida for further details.
The result is a recently completed 47.79 kW solar power installation that is 2,268 square feet with 162 Qcell panels and will produce 82,560 kWh annually, which will eliminate the production of 58,382 kg of CO2e per year.
Based on information from the City of Rockledge Building Department, this is the first commercial solar project in the area in 2018 and 2019.
“I am very happy with our choice to add solar power from Clever Energy,” said Visi.
“It is clean, environmentally friendly and in the long run less expensive than purchasing the energy from regular utility providers. We expect to break even on the cost of this installation within 5 years,” he recently stated. Diego was very informative and helpful in customizing a solar power system to suit our needs.”
