The Florida Highway Patrol has identified Julie Rainelli, 46, as the Merritt Island woman struck and killed by a car on Courtenay Pkwy. and Hickory Avenue near Publix supermarket Tuesday night about 9 p.m.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRIT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Florida Highway Patrol has identified Julie Rainelli, 46, as the Merritt Island woman struck and killed by a car on Courtenay Pkwy. and Hickory Avenue near Publix supermarket Tuesday night about 9 p.m.

According to Lt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was attempting to cross Courtenay Pkwy. from the east to the west, not at the intersection or at a crosswalk.

A 20-year-old Merritt Island woman was driving a 2001 Toyota northbound on Courtenay Pkwy. when the front of her car struck the victim.

Lt. Montes said that the crash remains under investigation.
