Port Canaveral takes care of their 'peeps'

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – While a Ford F250 Port truck was being inspected before being auctioned, staff discovered a nest in the grill of the vehicle.
Mockingbirds are considered migratory birds and are protected, so the vehicle was pulled from the auction until the birds have left the nest.
“Port Canaveral takes care of their ‘peeps,'” said Port officials in a social media post.
Mockingbirds are a group of New World passerine birds from the Mimidae family.
They are best known for the habit of some species mimicking the songs of other birds and the sounds of insects and amphibians, often loudly and in rapid succession.
