brevard county residents required by County Ordinance to register their dogs, cats and ferrets

BREVARD COUNTY SHERIFF WAYNE IVEY: I want to take a moment and remind everyone how important it is to register their pets with Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – I want to take a moment and remind everyone how important it is to register their pets with Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services.

Not only are Brevard County residents required by County Ordinance 14.52 (f) to register their dogs, cats and ferrets, but having your pet registered also helps our team find the pet’s owner should they become lost or even worse stolen.

In fact, your pet’s registration is so important that they are even required by county ordinance to wear them whenever outside the home or business.

As part of the registration process, the information is entered into our database so if a dog or cat with an Animal Registration Tag enters our shelter or we receive a phone call from a resident who has found a registered pet, the tag helps us access the owner’s information, so that we can immediately contact them to reclaim their pet.

Since registering your pet is vital to their health and well being, our agency has made licensing your furry family members easier by making it available on-line.

By partnering with PETCHAMP to license all pets in Brevard County pet parents can now register and renew their pet licenses from the convenience of their own home by visiting www.petchamp.com/brevard or by calling toll free to 844- 738-2426.

Remember it takes a community to protect a community and by working together we can help keep everyone safe, including our pets.
