New School will open in August with the start of the 2020-2021 school year

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The ground has been broken and the walls are going up. The countdown has begun on Brevard Public Schools’ new elementary school to be located in Viera and to open in August with the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
Brevard Public Schools Superintendent Mark Mullins, along with other district officials, school board representatives, members of the architectural firm, RZK, construction company Wharton-Smith, and the Viera Company, gathered for a ceremonial “ground-raising” ceremony last Tuesday.
The Viera Company generously donated the land, and the money to build the school comes entirely from impact fees paid by new residents and new businesses in this area.
No tax money or new debt was required.

The state-of-the-art school will accommodate 970 students in grades K-6 and ease the burden of nearby Quest Elementary, which is well over its maximum enrollment as a result of the considerable growth West Viera has seen in recent years.
The school will be an “open boundary school” – a new concept that will permit students from anywhere in Brevard to enter a lottery to attend.
More details on the application process and timeline will be released soon.
