Cocoa detectives are investigating an overnight shooting that left one person wounded. The victim, an adult male, was airlifted to the hospital and is expected to recover.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa detectives are investigating an overnight shooting that left one person wounded.

The victim, an adult male, was airlifted to the hospital and is expected to recover, according to Cocoa Police Public Information Officer Yvonne Martinez.

“At 1:17 a.m. Monday, emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a home invasion and shots fired in the 1300 block of Jackson Street,” said Martinez.

“Officers and Cocoa Fire-Rescue responded and the victim was treated on scene and airlifted to the hospital.”

Martinez said officers secured the scene and detectives responded to begin the investigation; interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence and documenting the crime scene. According to the homeowner, there was a knock on the door.

Detectives are following all leads and information and the investigation is still very active. No other details can be released at this time.

The names of the victims cannot be released per Florida Statute.
