Brevard County Man Drowns While Canoeing On Indian River Near State Road 520 Bridge

A Brevard County man who was canoeing in the Indian River near State Rad 520 has died after drowning near the bridge by the Intercoastal Waterway Park on Thursday.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A Brevard County man who was canoeing in the Indian River near State Rad 520 has died after drowning near the bridge by the Intercoastal Waterway Park on Thursday.

Members of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Cocoa Police Department attempted help the man in distress when they arrived on scene after receiving a call around 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

BCSO Dive Team was called in to help near the bridge by the Intercoastal Waterway Park, according to FWC officials.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Florida Fish and Wildlife is investigating incident.

The identity of the victim will not be released until the next of kin has been properly notified.
