BREVARD COUNTY  • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Representative Tyler Sirois (R-Merritt Island) and Senator Debbie Mayfield (R- Indialantic) will host a town hall meeting open to the public on Wednesday, December 4 at Melbourne City Hall to discuss recent legislation (HB 465/SB 676) they filed for the 2020 Legislative Session.

The town hall meeting will begin at 5 p.m.

The purpose of this town hall meeting is for Senator Mayfield and Representative Sirois to discuss their train safety legislation and to hear input from members of the public about the high-speed passenger rail planned to pass through Brevard and Indian River counties.

“Public safety is a core function of government” said Representative Sirois.

“The tracks run close to schools, neighborhoods, businesses, and historic downtowns. While I support high speed rail, my constituents want it to be safe for commuters and pedestrians who travel along the U.S. 1 corridor on a daily basis. I am proud to join with Senator Mayfield on this important legislation.”

“As we begin to explore various options for transportation throughout our state, our priority should be to ensure the safety of not only the passengers, but also of the citizens of the communities that will be impacted by these trains as they travel through our neighborhoods,” said Senator Debbie Mayfield.
