BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Donald Atwell, Kyle Smith and John Curtis had always talked about starting their own business.

When the three realized they weren’t happy at their day jobs, they decided to take the leap, opening Intracoastal Brewing Company, a craft brewery located at 652 W. Eau Gallie Boulevard in Melbourne.

Their brewery allows visitors to experience the entire process — from grain to glass — which they believe gives patrons a sense of ownership and pride.

But what made the three realize Florida’s Space Coast was the ideal place to open a craft brewery?

“Being in a craft industry — a truly handcrafted business here — the whole downtown Eau Gallie area is a very eclectic, art-driven, inspirational, unique kind of area. It was a natural fit.”
