Palm Bay Fire Rescue to Host Eight-Week Long Citizens Fire Academy Starting Feb. 6

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Fire Rescue is bringing back the Citizen Fire Academy, which is open to anyone aged 18 or older who would like to participate and will meet Thursday nights from 6-9 p.m., beginning February 6.
The program will be held at Palm Bay Fire Rescue Headquarters located at 899 Carlyle Avenue SE in Palm Bay.
To apply, participants should visit Fire Headquarters to complete an application and a release of liability form.
This 8-week program is designed for citizens who are interested in gaining an insider’s view of the services Palm Bay Fire Rescue provides and is designed to help citizens understand the operations of our Fire Department.
The Citizen Fire Academy curriculum is divided into classroom participation, hands-on practical experiences, demonstrations of EMS/Fire operations and presentations on tactical uses of the various apparatus.
Citizens will be offered the chance to try on gear and participate in hands-on activities but are not obligated to take part in any activity in which they do not feel comfortable.
Through these experiences, Palm Bay Fire Rescue hopes to help residents and community leaders understand the world of firefighting and EMS.
