BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – More than 150 educational leaders from throughout Brevard County came together for the first Annual Teacher Leadership Council Conference, a day of inquiry and learning to better understand the diverse and unique kids being served in Brevard Public Schools.

Hosted by the Teacher Leadership Council, the conference kicked off with a keynote presentation by Nicole Burkes, resource teacher for the district’s Speech Language Impaired Program.

Burkes talked about the differences in communication and learning styles across generations, and how this translates into classroom learning.

Afterward, attendees learned from their own BPS colleagues during various breakout sessions. Topics included the Teenage Brain, Hosting Civil Conversations in the Classroom, Building Classroom Culture, and Mindfulness for Teachers and Students, among others.

Leaders across our district gained valuable tools, ideas, and strategies to implement in their classrooms and school buildings, ultimately enriching their own development and the learning opportunities of the students they serve.
