BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA — Brevard Public Schools (BPS) is proud to announce that five of its high schools have been recognized among the best in Florida and the nation in the 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools Rankings.
These rankings highlight the district’s commitment to academic excellence, with two schools placing in the Top 100 nationally and West Shore Junior/Senior High School earning a spot among the Top 50 public high schools in the country.
Among the top performers, West Shore Junior/Senior High School ranked #5 in Florida and #47 nationally, a climb of 10 spots in the national rankings.
West Shore Junior/Senior High School in Melbourne has once again earned national acclaim, receiving the distinguished title of National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This prestigious recognition highlights the school’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and its ongoing efforts to close achievement gaps among students.
“Being recognized as one of the top five high schools in the State of Florida by U.S. News & World Report is a tremendous honor that reflects the unwavering dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and families,” said Principal Burt Clark at West Shore Junior/Senior High School.
“At West Shore our mission is to transform our confident learners of today into the empowered leaders of tomorrow and this recognition is a testament to the strength of our community and our shared commitment to academic achievement and personal growth.”
Edgewood Jr/Sr High School, ranked #12 in Florida and #94 nationally, also earned high praise.
“There are no words that can truly express how incredibly proud we are of Edgewood,” said Principal Jacqueline Ingratta, Edgewood Jr/Sr High School. “This recognition not only reflects the dedication, collaboration, and commitment to excellence demonstrated by our stakeholders every day, but also the collective focus we share on teaching and learning. It is a tremendous honor to see the hard work of our entire school community recognized on a national level. We are Edgewood! Pride. Purpose. Pack.”
The rankings are based on a comprehensive analysis of college readiness, Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) participation and performance, graduation rates, and state assessment scores. U.S. News evaluated more than 23,000 public high schools nationwide.

• #12 in Florida, #94 in the U.S. 3. Satellite Senior High School
• #95 in Florida, #1,386 in the U.S. 4. Viera High School
• #122 in Florida, #1,789 in the U.S. 5. Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High School
• #123 in Florida, #1,811 in the U.S.
