Basketball is a fun sport that is increasingly gaining acceptance amongst sports fans all over the world. But to really become a superstar basketball player, you need to constantly be on top of your game, sharpening your skills, learning new skills, etc., if you do not want the game to leave you behind.

The importance of being on the court, drilling, practicing and working up your skills cannot be underestimated.

As a matter of fact, some of the top basketball players we have in the world today are people who spend most of their day in the court training.

As a basketball player, you probably have invested a lot of time and money in yourself. You spend quality time watching the game on the TV or at different stadiums, and as much as possible you don’t want to miss training.

You even ensure you buy all the necessary gears, that you even invest in mobile, portable hoops because you know you can bring these hoops anywhere you go.

This can be very useful as training time is very important for every athlete, and there are going to be times you get to be off-court.

Maybe in a car traveling on a long journey or even on a plane, where you can’t use your hoops or practice your skills with a ball. During these times, how do you practice and make the most of your time as a basketball player?

1.   Watch YouTube Videos

YouTube is probably one of the best things that happened to this world as far as learning is concerned. You don’t have to sit in the class to learn or even travel across the world to meet your most favorite basketball role model to ask a few questions.

All you gotta do is get on YouTube and find basketball channels.

Now, even though you are not on the court to start practicing the things you will watch on YouTube, you are doing something wonderful to your mind. Your mind is working and taking in the things you are seeing.

Don’t be shocked, when you eventually have the time to get on the court, if you see yourself doing these routines without stress. It’s because your mind has been conditioned and made ready off-court.

So get on YouTube and watch as many videos as you can. There is no better way to maximize your time when traveling and off the court.

2.   Read Articles

While this is not as visual and as mind-tuning like videos, you can learn a lot from articles on Facebook and on the web generally.

You can find testimonies and interviews of basketball superstars and you can learn a lot from those texts. Read as many as you can while traveling; doing this is better than just looking out the window.

When you are done reading, visualize yourself on the court practicing the basketball skills you have read about. The mind is not held back by time or space, it can be anywhere, anytime and it can do amazing stuff. So give your mind some work to do by reading articles online when traveling and off-court.

3.   Watch Interviews

There are tons of basketball interviews online that you can watch. These interviews are going to answer some of the questions you already have and some of them will get you thinking.

The game of basketball is evolving every day and there are people from all over the world killing it. You want to get into the mind of every player possible, extract as much wisdom and skill as you can, and make it your own.

This is one of the smartest things anyone who is aspiring to be great can do. A simple word from someone like Kobe Bryant can unlock new levels of abilities and the fire in you that will set you on new pedestals of greatness.

So watch as many interviews as you can. Remember you are training in your mind and when you eventually are done traveling and you get on the court, all the things playing in your mind are going to find expression through your skill and resilience on the court.

4.   Take Online Courses

The internet has made a lot of things possible that wouldn’t have been. While traveling, you can head to Udemy, Coursera or edX and register for some free or paid courses.

These courses are handled by the best tutors in their field. Trust me; you will be better for it. You even get certificates for these courses and they can be added to your profile.

So when you are saying some stuff on the court that has to do with basketball, you will be saying it with all authority and knowledge.

You can learn a whole lot from these online courses and the things you learn can help you do better when you eventually get on the court.

The above are some things you can do to maximize every minute you are going to be on that bus or on that flight. It is like being on the court while not actually be on the court. It is how to make every day count for you as a basketball player.
