BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The trail race initiative “For the Girls” continues. You can keep the healthful momentum going with a brisk walk or run through another of Brevard’s most scenic spots.

Space Coast Trail Race #3 through wooded Wickham Park starts on Sunday, February 23 at 7 a.m.

Participants in the 6K or 12K event will compete for medals and bragging rights at the popular park located at 2500 Parkway Drive in Melbourne.

The four-race series benefits For the Girls Scholarship Fund, Inc. and welcomes runners and walkers of all skill levels.

The finale race and end-of-series party will be held at Sebastian Inlet State Park, on Friday, March 20.

Single race registration starts at $35. Not for college or books, a “scholarship” from the Melbourne-based not-for-profit organization helps support men and women affected by pelvic floor dysfunction and/or breast cancer to live life to their healthiest potential.

Doctor of Women’s Health and Physical Therapist Sherri Lorraine is grateful for the opportunity to shine a light on the charitable cause.

For the Girls Scholarship Fund, Inc.’s motto is “Supporting a Healthy and Active Lifestyle.”

“Thanks to the sponsorship of Avtec Homes, each time a runner registers, their registration fee goes directly to treating patients who can’t afford physical and occupational therapy treatments, supporting a healthy and active lifestyle,” said Lorraine.

CEO Sandra Forest and her Palm Bay-based homebuilding company applaud the work of For the Girls Scholarship Fund, Inc., which provides therapy and compression garments for cancer survivors who could not otherwise afford them.

“Avtec Homes is proud to support the work of For the Girls Scholarship Fund, Inc.,” said Forest.

“In the month of October, we made a donation to this wonderful organization for each home we sold. And when we learned that Running Space Coast Trails was a four-race fundraiser for this effort, we knew we had to be the sponsor.”
