BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Great Southeast Flooring America in Melbourne, Florida is marking the fourth year of its College Scholarship Program by expanding it to include all 16 Brevard Public Schools high schools.

One college-bound student from each of these schools will receive a $1,000 scholarship to offset expenses.

From the program’s beginnings in 2017 through the current year, Great Southeast Flooring America will have provided $29,000 to Brevard Public School students.

The number of schools eligible for the scholarships has grown each year since then.

“The cost of receiving a college education has been rising steadily over the years and it’s putting a real strain on our young people,” said Nelson Green, owner of Great Southeast Flooring America.

“Helping them is a way of saying ‘thanks’ to a community that has supported our business over the years. We’re happy to be assisting even more students this year.”

To be eligible, a student must receive a teacher’s recommendation and write a 500-word essay about how he or she will use the scholarship money.

Students interested in a Great Southeast Flooring America scholarship should contact their guidance offices to receive an application.

Each student must submit the application to the guidance office by April 15 with the essay and recommendation. Please note that this date may change based on school openings/closings.

“It’s always a privilege to help out Brevard County students,” Green said. “Past recipients have all been top-notch, quality men and women. We’re looking forward to meeting the new ones this year.”
