COVID-19 UPDATE! All Fares on Space Coast Area Transit Waived By Brevard Commission Through April 30

All SCAT riders, both Fixed Route and Paratransit will be able to ride for free
TRANSIT RIDERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SPREAD OUT ON THE BUS AND LIMIT THEIR TRIPS
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Due to COVID-19 virus emergency declaration, all fares on Space Coast Area Transit have been waived by the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners until April 30, 2020.
All riders, both Fixed Route and Paratransit will be able to ride for free.
Recognizing that Space Coast Area Transit is a major contributor to the economic vitality of our community, the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners has taken this action to assist those who are financially hit the hardest during this time.
Space Coast Area Transit recognizes that there are those in our community who rely on public transportation to get to their jobs, the grocery stores and medical appointments.
Not charging a fare helps to create social distancing by allowing transit riders to enter and exit through the back door of the bus, as well as bypassing the fare box in the front of the bus.
Additionally, effectively immediately, both North and South Space Coast Area Transit Bus Terminals will be closed to the general public.
Space Coast Area Transit bus drivers are on the front line of service in our community. Please help keep them safe. Extra bus service has been added on the highest volume routes.
Transit riders are encouraged to spread out on the bus and limit their trips.
Space Coast Area Transit wants to provide essential transportation for people who really need it and limit crowds. Those who are sick or who have virus symptoms should not ride.
All riders are asked to follow the posted hygiene guidelines:
• Carry strong hand sanitizer and use it often
• Wash hands frequently, for at least 20 seconds
• Don’t touch your face
• Avoid close contact with people if possible, and stay home if sic.
• Sneeze or cough into a tissue or your sleeve, not the open air or into your hand
• Don’t shake hands, use fist or elbow bumps instead
In addition, Space Coast Area Transit continuously receives briefings from the Brevard County Emergency Operations Center and other sources.
As the situation is evolving, they will continue to respond to changing conditions and directives.
