BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Over the past few weeks, our thoughts, TVs, and social media have been dominated by COVID-19.
Our focus is now turning to concerns about how to protect our families as Brevard County begins to reopen and return to our daily lives.
Face masks have been highlighted to provide an extra layer of safety to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19.
At the beginning of April, Health First implemented a Universal Masking Policy. This policy required everyone who entered a Health First hospital or Medical Group office to wear a mask.
This policy is intended to slow the spread of COVID-19 and included all physicians, associates, patients, visitors and vendors.
The masks also served as a warm-welcoming invitation for Danielle Mohammed and her two daughters when they recently visited Health First Medical Group’s Gateway facility.
“We were all masked before entering the building, which was very inviting because we avoided getting labs done due to the fear of being exposed,” Danielle said.
Danielle also said that her anxiety, concerns and questions were immediately put to ease when she quickly noticed everyone abiding by a new safety guideline.
“I applaud Health First and its mask policy with the current health crisis,” she continued. “Never in all my life would I have ever imagined experiencing an event of this magnitude.”
Patients and visitors are provided surgical masks at no cost as they enter the facilities, and associates receive face masks as well.
It’s the peace of mind Danielle appreciates the most, knowing the efforts Health First is taking to help keep her daughters and patients as safe and healthy as possible.
“I know personally, going out into public knowing that individuals could be carrying this virus and be asymptomatic makes me very nervous, but by wearing a mask at all times does help calm that anxiety,” Danielle said.
“Thank you, Health First, for implementing a policy that speaks louder than our smiles hidden under our masks. We appreciate you.”
