Cocoa City Council Selects Former Brevard County Manager Stockton Whitten as Next City Manager

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The Cocoa City Council has selected former Brevard County manager Stockton Whitten as the next City Manager.
Whitten will now move forward with contract negotiations and a proposed contract will come back before Council for approval.
Whitten has more than 29 years of public sector experience and is currently the Associate Vice President of Facilities and Special Projects for Eastern Florida State College.
He was previously employed by Brevard County for 24 years in positions ranging from assistant to the county manager, management services department director, assistant county manager, deputy county manager, interim county manager and ultimately Brevard County manager from 2014 to 2017.
Prior to coming to Brevard County, Whitten worked for Broward County as both a budget analyst and a policy analyst. He has also interned for both the City of Gainesville and Alachua County governments.
Whitten is a native of Jacksonville, Florida and graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration. He also earned an MBA from Georgia Southern University.
He has also been active in the community by serving on the boards of Crosswinds Youth Services, CareerSource Brevard and the Brevard Family Partnership.
