BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey is asking for community’s help in solving a disturbing animal cruelty case involving dog fighting in Merritt Island.

Sheriff Ivey mentions the dog was found near Ormond Ave. just off N. Tropical Trail underneath a carport by a local passerby.

The dog is in serious condition and medical staff are working on life-saving measures to save the dog’s life.

Investigators believe the dog is a ‘bait dog’ for dog fighting. Dog fighters use bait dogs to let their game dogs practice mutilating another dog, without being harmed in the process.
