Landing on Forbes’ national best hospitals list in March, Viera Hospital is one of only 10 Florida hospitals to also join publication’s best-in-state list

Health First’s Viera Hospital has earned another prestigious spot on the new Forbes list of Top Hospitals by State.

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Health First’s Viera Hospital has earned another prestigious spot on the new Forbes list of Top Hospitals by State.

Earning a 5-star Overall Hospital Quality Rating on the publication’s Forbes Top Hospitals by State 2026, Viera is one of only 10 hospitals (out of more than 370) in the state of Florida, and the only hospital in Brevard County to receive the five-star rating.

Published in late July, the Forbes rankings recognize hospitals delivering outstanding quality based on publicly available data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Provider Data Catalog.

Viera Hospital in March was named to its second straight Forbes’ 2026 list of Top Hospitals in America – earning a 5-Star recognition. And that recognition helped Viera qualify for Forbes’ inaugural best-in-state list.

“It’s an honor to be included among the Forbes inaugural list top hospitals in the state of Florida, and earning a five-star rating is a true testament to the level of dedication and commitment every Viera Hospital physician, nurse, associate and volunteer strives to deliver every day,” said MaryJo Allen, Viera Hospital President.

“As Viera Hospital moves forward with ambitious growth and expansion plans over the next two years to deliver safe, high-quality, accessible care for our community, this esteemed accolade provides an extra level of pride and excitement across the Viera campus – and our community,” Allen continued.

Forbes’ Top Hospitals 2026 national list and ratings system assessed general acute care hospitals across the U.S.

This inaugural best-in-state list is a subset of the national list and is designed to identify the top hospitals in each of the 50 states and Washington, D.C. To be eligible for this state list, hospitals were required to have met the criteria for evaluation on the national list and been given an overall star rating. Among this group of hospitals, Forbes then calculated, on average, the top 30 percent of hospitals in each state using the star rating percentiles.

Hospitals were evaluated across four key areas: patient outcomes, hospital best practices, value and patient experience. Each hospital receives an Overall Hospital Quality Rating ranging from one-to-five stars – with five stars representing the highest level of performance.

“This recognition reflects the exceptional work happening every day across Viera Hospital,” said Dr. Jennifer Howes, Viera Hospital Chief Medical Officer.

“To be distinguished among an already select group of nationally recognized hospitals speaks to the expertise, compassion, and commitment of our physicians and care teams. Our community places an extraordinary level of trust in Viera Hospital, and this achievement inspires us to continue advancing and improving the care experience for every patient we serve.”

Viera Hospital is a consistent A-rated safety hospital through The Leapfrog Group, and has, over the last calendar year been named a Newsweek Best In-State Hospital for the fourth straight year. Viera has also recently earned its third-straight CMS 5-star hospital rating and this month was named the top hospital in the Hospital/Medical Center category of the Community’s Choice Awards, as chosen by readers of Florida Today
