Retired Port Canaveral Ambassador Bill Bancroft Passes Away, Served Numerous Roles During His Career

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Port Canaveral mourns the loss of Bill Bancroft, who served many roles at the Canaveral Port Authority.

Bancroft served as Dep. Exec. Director of Human Resources, Dep. Exec. Director of Real Estate & Tenant Relations, Dep. Exec. Director for Maritime, Customer and Personnel Services, Customer and Tenant Relations, and Dep. Exec. Director of Operations and Administration.

Bancroft was a Navy captain who retired from military service in 1990.

He and his wife, Jan, moved to Brevard County in 1983 when Bill took command of the Naval Ordnance Test Unit at Port Canaveral until 1990.

After his military service, Bill became the first deputy executive director at Port Canaveral and left Port Canaveral in January 2004.

Bill also was a former chairman of the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce.

“Our thoughts and prayers go to his family,” said a Port Canaveral spokesperson.
