BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – When it comes to finding the right people for the right spot, Karen Sharpe is tops for helping volunteers get involved at the police department.

Her 25 years of experience recruiting and staffing for Fortune 500 companies was ideal preparation for her work as VCOP Public Relations and Recruitment Manager.

The Public Relations team coordinates events such as Senior Santa for long-term care facilities, Senior Expos, community outreaches, and social media posts.

She has been married for 31 years and moved to Florida from Houston TX in 2016, to be closer to a family which includes 3 children, and 8 grandchildren.

Retirement allows her free time to read, attend grandchildren’s games, volunteer at church, and playing with her Labradoodle, Izzy.

After learning about the VCOPs at a safety presentation given by the Palm Bay Police Department, Karen knew this was an opportunity to use her skills to give back to the community.

If you would like to join the VCOP team, call 321-953-8987, email VCOP@palmbayflorida.org or stop the police department to pick up a brochure.
