BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech’s Spring 2021 virtual commencement was held Saturday and featured the recognition of more than 1,200 graduating students recognized and remarks from Florida Tech President Dwayne McCay.

McCay, pictured above, recognized the hurdles presented by the pandemic and congratulated the students on their success in addressing and overcoming them.

“We pride ourselves here at Florida Tech on being relentless, and you have shown that,” he told the graduating class. “With a pandemic going on, you had to be relentless, you had to fight through it, wear a mask, social distance, wash your hands. So this was a challenge, but you made it.”

He added, “That speaks to why you should be proud to be a Florida Tech graduate.”

During the ceremony, the names of graduates were read aloud and presented on-screen, along with any honors and accolades and their provided photos. The event closed with the singing of Florida Tech’s alma mater.

The ceremony is the fourth virtual commencement Florida Tech has held amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Spring, Summer and Fall 2020 ceremonies have attracted more than 21,000 views.
