Nathan Edwards threw 5 no-hit innings for Mims with 13 strikeouts

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The 9/10/11 Softball Section 3 Tournament featured Palm Coast and Port St. John in a best 2-out-of-3 series at Port St. John LL’s Fay Park.
9/10/11 Softball Section 3 Tournament: Palm Coast Advances to Softball Tournament over Port St. John
In the first game, Palm Coast was the home team and picked up 12 unanswered runs in the first inning.
Port St. John tacked on their first and only run in the top of the second inning. But, Palm Coast added 6 more runs in their half of the 2nd and shut Port out in the top of the 3rd. The first game ended 18 – 1 in favor of Palm Coast, behind Addysen Alred who pitched the complete game.
In game 2, Palm Coast was the visiting team with Port St. John as the home team. Palm Coast took the 2nd game while posting 18 runs in the 2nd inning. Addysen Alred pitched the shutout as Palm Coast won 20-0.

Intermediate (50/70) Section 3 Baseball Tournament: Mims Advances to State of Florida Intermediate Tournament Over St. Augustine
The Intermediate (50/70) Section 3 Tournament took place at Merritt Island LL’s Mitchell Ellington Park. Game 1 started with the visitors from St. Augustine taking on the home team from Mims.
St. Augustine threatened in the top of the first inning, loading up the bases with only one out, but Mims pitcher Nathan Edwards would buckle down and strike out the next two batters to end the inning.
Mims carried the momentum into the bottom of the first where leadoff batter Blake Sargenti would reach base and score on an RBI single by Nathan Edwards.

Edwards would then come around to score on an RBI double by Preston Dietrich, who would plate the final run of the inning on a wild pitch. At the end of the inning, Mims would hold a 3-0 lead and would extend that lead in the bottom of the second inning, as Spencer Fletcher singled and came around to score on a throwing error to make the score 4-0.
Mims continued the scoring in the third inning with back-to-back singles from Edwards and Dietrich to set the table and RBI doubles from Evan Burnette and Justin Duncan that pushed the Mims’ lead to 7-0.
St. Augustine loaded up the bases with no outs in the top of the fourth after Trey Campbell and Cayden Manucy reached on errors and Shane Bates drew a walk. But again Mims pitcher Edwards tightened up, striking out two batters and getting a groundout for out number three.
Mims continued the scoring in the bottom of the fourth, pushing the lead to 9-0 after both Sargenti and Dietrich singled and scored. Mims would complete the shutout in the bottom of the sixth inning when Sargenti singled and came in to score on a throwing error, giving his team a 10-0 win. Nathan Edwards threw 5 no-hit innings for Mims with 13 strikeouts.
Game 2 began with the visitors from St. Augustine taking on the home team from Mims. St. Augustine got on the board early in Game 2 when Reeve Power singled and came in to score on an RBI single by Trey Campbell for a 1-0 lead in the top of the inning.
Mims came back in the bottom of the second inning as Robbie Lowe singled and scored on an RBI triple by Justin Duncan. Caleb Focht would then groundout to drive in Duncan. At the end of 2 innings, Mims would lead 2-1. Mims extended their lead in the bottom of the third inning.
Preston Dietrich singled to lead off the inning, then, Evan Burnette and Robbie Lowe would follow up with RBI hits and Spencer Fletcher drove in another run with an RBI single to give Mims a 6-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, Mims would load the bases after consecutive walks and a hit batsman. Lowe would start the scoring with an infield hit and an RBI. An RBI single from Caleb Focht, an RBI groundout by Fletcher and an RBI single by Nathan Edwards continued the scoring. Burnette and Lowe would seal the game with RBI doubles to give Mims the win, 16-1 after 4 innings. Blake Sargenti threw a complete four innings for Mims, giving up one run and striking out four.

9/10/11 Baseball Section 3 Tournament: Navy Ortega Lakeshore advances to the State of Florida 9/10/11 Baseball Tournament
In other action, the 9/10/11 Baseball Section 3 Tournament took place at Indian River City LL’s W.W. James Park in Titusville. In the first game, District 11’s Navy Ortega Lakeshore (NOL) LL was the visiting team with District 19’s Lake Mary LL as the home team.
NOL batted through their order twice in the first inning, plating 14 runs behind 2 doubles by John McKenzie, a double by Maddox Wright and a home run by Aiden Hallowes. Lake Mary was not able to plate any runs during the bottom of the first.
NOL continued their hitting spree in the second with 10 more runs from 14 batters including doubles from Andy Wheeler and Noah Litchfield to head into the bottom of the 2nd with a 24-0 lead.
Lake Mary would leave 1 runner stranded at second. But, NOL came to play as they scored 7 more runs after sending 12 to the plate. Lake Mary scored 2 runs in the bottom of the third as Navy Ortega Lakeshore took Game 1 by a score of 31 – 2.
Game 2 saw Lake Mary as the visiting team and Mims LL as the home team. Lake Mary’s offense picked up this game as they scored 18 runs. Lake Mary’s Brayden Lamb reached base 4 times and scored 3 runs while Landon Talley and Joseph Macque each added doubles and scored. Mims plated Ryker Johnson, Dylon Turner and Ethan Flake in the 5th, but it was too late as Lake Mary took Game 2 with an 18-3 score.
As Game 3 unfolded, Mims was the visiting team with Navy Ortega Lakeshore (NOL) in the home dugout. Mims managed only three hits; singles from Ameer Ross, Ryker Johnson and Ethan Flake. All three runners ended up being stranded on base without scoring. NOL took control from the start and never let up.
Noah Litchfield and Aiden Hallowes both walked and Musashi Niitani had an RBI single to plate two runs in the bottom of the first inning. NOL would go on to bat around in the second inning and plate seven runs. John McKenzie, Maddox Wright and Sam Barksdale reached to load the bases with no outs. Litchfield, Hallowes and Niitani would all drive in runs to extend the lead to 9-0.
NOL would put the game out of reach in the 3rd inning when Andy Wheeler scored run number eleven. Navy Ortega Lakeshore advances to the State of Florida 9/10/11 Baseball Tournament on July 9 in Defuniak Springs.
