WATCH: Brevard County Athletes Headed to 2022 Special Olympics USA Games

WATCH: It was announced on Space Coast Daily TV that the Brevard Blasters and Brevard Eagles volleyball teams, and Riley Reneau in Standup Paddleboard, will be representing Brevard County in the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games that will be held June 5 through 12, 2022.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – It was announced on Space Coast Daily TV that the Brevard Blasters and Brevard Eagles volleyball teams, and Riley Reneau in Standup Paddleboard, will be representing Brevard County in the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games that will be held June 5 through 12, 2022.

The announcement was made by Debra Spence, Brevard Sports Coordinator for Special Olympics, in front of a room packed with athletes, coaches and family members.

Spence told the athletes they “earned it and deserve it.” She went on to say, “We are so proud of all the work you have done for so many years.”

The athletes were ecstatic when they heard they were going to the Special Olympics USA Games. When asked what went through his mind when he heard the announcement, Levi Drees, a volleyball player for the Blasters, said, “I am excited, I’m ready for this!”

Riley Reneau used the word, “awesome,” when she heard the announcement.

The athletes have approximately one year to prepare for the Games, which will be held in Orlando, Florida.
