BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The West Melbourne Police have been searching since June 11 for 25-year-old Joshua Manns, a suspect in the death of 3-year-old Jameson Nance, and announced Tuesday that Manns was now in custody.
Manns, who had an active arrest warrant for Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm, was apprehended in Tifton, Georgia by U.S. Marshals after authorities received a tip that he had fled Florida and was hiding out with relatives in Georgia.
West Melbourne police officials said that Manns was captured Monday afternoon by the Marshals, with the help of the Tift County Sheriff’s Office.
“On June 28, the investigative team obtained a new arrest warrant charging Joshua Manns with First Degree Felony Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse,” said West Melbourne police officials in a release.
Manns is being held on a no-bond status in the Tift County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Brevard County.
“The West Melbourne Police Department would like to thank the United States Marshal Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force as well as the Tift County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in taking this fugitive into custody,” said a West Melbourne Police spokesperson.
