Brevard Prep Football Rankings: Holy Trinity Claims No. 5 Spot, Cocoa Hangs On in Double Overtime

POWER RANKING AFTER WEEK 5 ACTION

The Space Coast Daily–Friday Night Locker Room team has released the Week 5 Brevard County High School Football Top 5 Power Rankings and the undefeated Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers have earned themselves a spot in the Top 5 after another dominant performance last Friday.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA  – The Space Coast Daily–Friday Night Locker Room team has released the Week 5 Brevard County High School Football Top 5 Power Rankings and the undefeated Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers have earned themselves a spot in the Top 5 after another dominant performance lasT Friday.

The Cocoa Tigers unanimously remain at Number One after adding another Class 8A victory with a dramatic walk-off 2-point conversion over powerful Treasure Coast 56-55 in double overtime.

The rankings are comprised of a 15-member committee in Brevard County and averaged out by each committee member’s weekly Top 5 rankings list.

The way Cocoa was able to respond after trailing 28-7 in the first quarter proves that the Tigers belong at Number One until proven otherwise. Senior running back OJ Ross finished the game with 160 rushing yards and whopping 5 touchdowns.

3-Star pro-style quarterback Davin Wydner finished with 348 passing yards and 3 touchdowns through the air.

1. COCOA TIGERS (3-1)

2. ROCKLEDGE RAIDERS (5-0)

The Rockledge Raiders handed Deerfield Beach their second loss of the season after a close 7-0 contest. The game was a defensive struggle, both offenses weren’t able to get their offenses rolling on Friday night.

Sophomore linebacker Dj Mccormick led the team with14 solo tackles.

The Raiders now head south to Palm Bay as they face the Pirates (2-1) on Friday night.

3. MERRITT ISLAND MUSTANGS (4-1)

The Mustangs continue to put the county on notice after defeating the Palm Bay Pirates 44-12. (Merritt Island Football image)

The Mustangs travelled to Georgia last Friday and took their first loss of the season, falling to Cairo 22-3.

Despite the loss on the road, Merritt Island hangs onto the Number Three spot in this week’s Power Rankings.

Senior quarterback Brady Denanburg had an off-week as he finished the game with a 35.6 QB rating and 4 interceptions.

Merritt Island will have an opportunity to bounce back and regain momentum as they face the winless Titusville Terrier this week on the Road.

4. SATELLITE SCORPIONS (5-0)

The Satellite Scorps remain stagnant here at number four after dominating a winless Weeki Wachee team 41-0.

Scorpions will face a real test this week as they head down to Bayside to face the Bears.

The unbeaten Scorps head into the “meat” of their schedule where they will be tested by teams like Rockledge, Merritt Island and Palm Bay after this week.

Satellite has outscored their last two opponents 85-6.

5. HOLY TRINITY EPISCOPAL ACADEMY TIGERS (5-0)

The Holy Trinity Tigers make their first appearance on this year’s Top 5 Power Ranking as the Tigers dominated last week, cruising by Windermere Prep 39-0.

The unbeaten squad has outscored their opponents by an unbelievable 208-29 through five weeks.

Senior quarterback Ty Englehart threw three touchdown passes and finished with a quarterback rating of 135.4.

Holy Trinity will look to advance to 6-0 as they travel to Palm Beach Christian Prep this week.
