District 2 Councilman Lavander Hearn was unanimously recognized and selected as the Deputy Mayor at Tuesday night’s Cocoa City Council Meeting. Hearn is a Cocoa High school alumni where he played sports, andn attended Eastern Florida State College, Cocoa Campus, completing EMT training and obtaining his Associate of Arts degree in Fire Science. BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – District 2 Councilman Lavander Hearn was unanimously recognized and selected as the Deputy Mayor at Tuesday night’s Cocoa City Council Meeting.

Hearn, who was raised in Cocoa and is an alumnus of Cocoa High School, was elected in November 2020 to serve the residents in District 2. He is also a Brevard County Firefighter/EMT and a substitute teacher for Brevard Public Schools.

As a teen, Hearn found himself facing many obstacles including incidents involving the law. Thankfully through mentorship and youth outreach programs, he was able to guide himself back on track towards a positive path.

He is a Cocoa High school alumni where he played sports and attended Eastern Florida State College, Cocoa Campus, completing EMT training and obtaining his Associate of Arts degree in Fire Science.
