Fire Engulfs Old Skate Park Building on Fortenberry Road Behind Merritt Square Mall

Brevard County Fire Rescue and the Cocoa Fire Department responded to the scene of a building fire on the 500 block of Fortenberry Road in Merritt Island Thursday night.

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue and the Cocoa Fire Department responded to the scene of a building fire on the 500 block of Fortenberry Road in Merritt Island Thursday night.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and say the cause of the fire was a trash fire that began on the second floor of an abandoned commercial structure.

Officials say the building use to be the old skate park behind Merritt Square Mall.
