Melbourne Police Arrest Matthew B. Smith for Possession of Cannabis, Xanax, With Intent to Sell

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne police officers arrested Matthew B. Smith, 19, for felony possession of cannabis, possession of Xanax and possession with intent to sell.

Melbourne Police Officer Shaun Hill said police officers “responded to a 7- 11 located at 1268 Aurora Road, in reference to a suspicious vehicle on December 13.”

Officers made contact with the driver who was identified as Matthew B. Smith. During the investigation, the officers developed reasonable suspicion to search the vehicle.

The search found that Smith was in possession of a large amount of cannabis as well as possession of Xanax, according to Officer Hill.
