BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA — The West Melbourne Police Department is recognizing a major professional achievement by one of its senior leaders following his graduation from the FBI National Academy.

Commander Antonio Romano recently completed the 296th session of the prestigious FBI National Academy, graduating during a ceremony held at the academy’s campus in Quantico, Virginia.

The program is internationally recognized for its rigorous academic standards and leadership development curriculum.

The FBI National Academy is an intensive 11-week program designed to enhance the professional capabilities of law enforcement executives through advanced coursework in leadership, communication, and physical fitness.

Admission is highly selective, with participants required to demonstrate a proven record of professionalism, leadership, and service within their agencies. Nationwide, fewer than one percent of law enforcement officers are afforded the opportunity to attend the academy.

According to the West Melbourne Police Department, the knowledge and skills Commander Romano gained during the program are expected to have a lasting and positive impact on both the department and the community it serves.

The 296th session included 254 law enforcement professionals representing 47 states and the District of Columbia. The class also reflected the academy’s global reach, with participants from 24 countries, as well as representatives from four military organizations and two federal civilian agencies.

Department officials praised Commander Romano’s accomplishment, noting that his selection and successful completion of the program highlight his dedication to professional excellence and public service.

The West Melbourne Police Department congratulated Commander Romano on his graduation and achievement, calling it a significant milestone in his law enforcement career.
