IVEY: she exemplifies leadership and strength in the face of adversity
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – This past week I had the pleasure of recognizing Robert L. Stevenson Elementary School student Jayda Eidemiller as the recipient of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office “Great Kid” Award.
The “Sheriff’s Great Kid” Award was created to recognize students in our schools who do things right, as I got tired of us spending the majority of our time and resources dealing with those who don’t do it right!
Sadly, those who don’t do it right are the ones we focus on most often, so our “Great Kid” Award is designed to highlight those who display character, patriotism, and just all-out great qualities.
Jayda is a third-grader and was nominated by Brevard County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer Corporal Curtis Brooks in partnership with her teachers.
Jayda was nominated as she exemplifies leadership and strength in the face of adversity, having put together fundraisers for her mother when she was diagnosed with Breast cancer in 2018 that raised over $7,500.
Through it all, she never gave up and remained positive even after losing her mother to her battle with cancer.
Corporal Brooks, Jayda’s teachers, and even Principal Tiffany Fleeger recognize Jayda as an amazing student who each and every day demonstrates strength, character, and school pride as she serves as an example for other students to follow.
Please join me in congratulating Jayda for being a “Great Kid” and also in thanking Jayda’s family for attending yesterday’s presentation.
I would also like to thank Principal Tiffany Fleeger and Deputy Brooks for submitting Jayda for this well-deserved award.
