OBITUARY: Dorcas Leader Jeannette Wilkes Hampton, 93, of Merritt Island, Passed Away Jan. 16

Jeannette was a wonderful wife, mother of five children, grandmother and great-grandmother

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Jeannette Wilkes Hampton of Merritt Island, Florida went to be with our Lord Jesus on January 16, 2022, at the age of 93. She was born on September 14, 1928, in Vienna, Georgia.

She was a wonderful wife, mother of five children, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and her husband, William Hampton, worked very hard together to provide for their family and did an amazing job. Her home was always the place for loved ones to gather, everyone was welcome.

Jeannette was a strong woman, always there to provide support, love, and encouragement. An inspiration to most. She is the backbone of the family and held everything together. She stayed home to raise her children for many years and then went to work in the school cafeteria at Golfview Elementary School, which she really enjoyed.

She later transferred to Merritt Island High School where she stayed for28 years, and retired in 1991. She was a member of the Cape Canaveral Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She served as a Dorcas leader delivering food to those in need. She enjoyed being with her family and was an amazing cook. She will be forever in our hearts and in our thoughts. Not a day will pass without her on our minds.

She is survived by her twin sister Annette Simpson; her three daughters, Geneva Burton, Dorothy Gingras, Abbygail Nelson and her son George Hampton; Grandchildren James Hampton, Travis Hampton, Shane Hampton, Troy Glatter, Dale Glatter, Jennifer Huff, Lisa Hopkins, Aaron Hopkins, Brenda Spears, Christina McKinney, Katina Spears, and John Spears; and 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Friends and family are welcome to gather at Merritt Island Olive Garden following the service.
