BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Ten years ago today our agency and community lost an amazing hero when Deputy Barbara Pill was killed in the line of duty while trying to arrest a perpetrator.

In that brief moment of time, Barbara left behind a loving family, an agency of friends and co-workers, and a community that loved her dearly.

While Barbara’s watch ended ten years ago, her footprint on our agency will live on forever in the hearts and minds of those she touched in her short time on this earth.

Barbara was a partner to some, a mentor to others, a mom to everyone she met, and a hero to us all. She will forever be a part of our agency and our lives.

– Sheriff Wayne Ivey
