Six Eastern Florida State College Student-Athletes Recognized at Annual Student Awards Ceremony

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Six Eastern Florida State College student-athletes were recognized for being exceptional students at the annual student awards ceremony.
The ceremony, held on the Melbourne campus, acknowledged students in two categories, student leadership, and academic discipline.
A member of the national-championship women’s soccer team Driade Freitas was recognized for her outstanding academic performance, creativity, and achievement in Communications while men’s golfer John Houchin was recognized in the Career and Technical category, and women’s golfer Delia Timpy was honored in the Business category.
Three members of the golf teams were recognized as student leaders as men’s golfer Brandon Boncore and women’s golfer Gabrielle Fernandez were honored with Unsung Hero Awards. Women’s golfer Jasmine Yang was named an Outstanding Campus Leader.
The ceremony featured remarks from several EFSC administrators including Dean of Students Barbara Kennedy, Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs and Chief Learning Officer Dr. Randy Fletcher, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Sandy Handfield, Associate Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Laura Sidoran and Associate Dean of Student Life Paola Moneymaker.
The men’s and women’s golf teams will both be competing in the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament in May.
