WATCH: Multi-Agency Search Team Rescue Lost Hiker Following 7-Hour Search

(FWC) – The U.S. Coast Guard, along with, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and partner agencies, rescued a hiker who was separated from her partner that was lost within 11,000 acres of trails, mangroves and marshland.
Using specialized equipment, the multi-agency crew spotted the hiker after a nearly 7-hour search.
A group of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers who reached the wayward hiker made their way through half a mile of soft, thigh-deep mud and heavy vegetation.
She was awake and alert, but dehydrated and exhausted.

The video shows the team ready to receive the descending rescue basket from the helicopter and the awesome selfie they texted to her family to reassure them of her safety.
The multi-agency search team included Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Iona McGregor Fire District, Lee County EMS, Florida State Parks, Southwest Florida Urban Search and Rescue, and the United States Coast Guard.
