Palm Bay Police Officer Van Den Ende Helps Save 13-Year-Old Struggling to Swim at Wekiwa Springs

Family stopped by the Palm Bay Police Department to thank Officer Van Den Ende

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – On May 11, Palm Bay Police Officer Van Den Ende was off-duty enjoying time with family and friends at Kelly Park near Wekiwa Springs in the Orlando area.

During his time there, he observed an unresponsive individual in the water. Officer Van Den Ende sprang into action, pulling the subject out and began life-saving measures.

After administering CPR for several minutes, the subject, 13-year-old Kaden, started to gain consciousness and breathing on his own. Paramedics and Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies credited the quick actions of Officer Van Den Ende for saving Kaden’s life and he has made a full recovery.

“The Palm Bay Police Department is extremely grateful for Officer Van Den Ende’s actions that ultimately allowed Kaden and his family to be with us yesterday,” said a Palm Bay police spokesperson.
