Brevard Commissioner John Tobia Presents Possible Reallocation Scenario to Accommodate $30 Million Tax Gift Granted Driftwood Capital

Gift would be paid for out of the existing statutory allocations of tourism tax funds

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Brevard County Commissioner John Tobia attended the Tourism Development Council meeting on Wednesday afternoon at the government center in Viera to present a possible concept for the reallocation of tourism tax funds with the addition of the $1 million per year gift to Driftwood Capital.
With his presentation, Commissioner Tobia wanted to convey a possible way in which funds from the TDC may be reallocated to accommodate the $1 million gift granted by commissioners Rita Pritchard, Curt Smith and Kristine Zonka during a vote at last week’s county commission meeting. Tobia was the lone dissenting vote.
Commissioner Tobia said during the meeting this was just a starting point in order to begin thinking about how the $1 million gift would be paid for out of the existing statutory allocations of tourism tax funds.
