BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech women’s rowing team saw two scholar-athletes garner recognition from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association as 2021-22 National Scholar-Athlete Award winners, as announced by the organization.

Abbigale Smith (Aerospace Engineering) has been recognized for the second consecutive season, while Simona Vileniskyte (Aerospace Engineering) received the distinction for the first time.

The CRCA National Scholar-Athlete Award requires that student-athletes must be in their second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, must have rowed in at least 70 percent of the regular season and/or at a conference/national championships, and must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher for their career.

“I am very proud of these two scholar-athletes.” said head coach Adam Thorstad “They have shown a tremendous amount of dedication on and off the water. I look forward to continuing to see them succeed in all aspects.”
