Florida Tech Panthers Sean Houpt, Niall Harris Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Sean Houpt and Niall Harris of the Men’s Basketball team have been named to the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

The College Sports Communicators (CSC) recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America Ballot, as first, second, and third-team All-Americans will be announced in mid-March.

Houpt, a senior guard from Danville, Illinois, graduated in the fall with a degree in Sport Management and a 3.52 cumulative GPA. He is now working towards his MBA at Florida Tech.

He has also been a member of the Florida Tech Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

On the court, Houpt is having a dominant season. He is second in the SSC with 20.5 points per game and 75 3-pointers.

This season Houpt set a new career-high in scoring with 33 points in a win at home against Barry and then matched that with 33 points in a road win at Eckerd.

Harris, a senior guard from Leicester, England studies Aerospace Engineering and possesses a 3.91 cumulative GPA. He has been named to the SSC Commissioner’s and Florida Tech Athletic Director’s Honor Roll multiple times during his time at Florida Tech.

This season, Harris averages 10.4 points per game and is second on the team with 6.5 rebounds per game. Earlier this season, Harris recorded Florida Tech’s only triple-double of the season in a win against Johnson.

The Panthers are in the final week of their regular season, holding a 16-10 and 9-9 SSC record.

Houpt and Harris will be one of three Florida Tech players honored at their next home game on Feb. 22 against Lynn for Senior Night. Tip-off from the Clemente Center is 7:30 p.m.
