Owens took over Pirate football program in 2021

Palm Bay Pirates head coach Jake Owens stepped down after accepting a coaching job in Northern Kentucky. Owens took over the Pirates football program in 2021 and led the team to an 8-4 record in 2022. Before his tenure at Palm Bay, he was the head coach at Space Coast High School. His best season with the Vipers featured a 7-4 overall record in 2013, including a second playoff appearance in program history.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Pirates head coach Jake Owens stepped down after accepting a coaching job in Northern Kentucky.

Owens took over the Pirates football program in 2021 and led the team to an 8-4 record in 2022.

Before his tenure at Palm Bay, he was the head coach at Space Coast High School.

His best season with the Vipers featured a 7-4 overall record in 2013, including a second playoff appearance in program history.

Owens resigned as the Space Coast head coach in 2017 to take some time from coaching but returned in 2020 to coach at Merritt Island as an assistant.
