BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – For the second straight year, Rockledge, Florida-based Health First has been named among “America’s Best Large Employers” for 2023 by Forbes.

Results were released nationally this past week.

In a survey of 45,000 U.S. employees, Health First landed in the top 200 nationally on the list highlighting organizations with more than 5,000 employees.

Forbes and Statista selected the America’s Best Employers 2023 through an independent survey applied to a vast sample of American employees working for companies with more than 1,000 U.S. employees.

Across 25 industry sectors, 1,000 employers have been awarded – 500 large employers and 500 midsize employers.

The evaluation was based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees that were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family. Employee evaluations also included other employers in their respective industries that stood out either positively or negatively.

Jumping nearly 250 spots – from 407 in 2022 to 159 this year – Health First was one of only three hospitals or healthcare systems in Florida named to the list and one of only 35 hospital or healthcare systems nationally named to the list.

Additionally, Health First is one of only 18 Florida-based companies named to the list.

“It’s an incredible honor to be named among the top companies and healthcare systems in our own state of Florida – but especially among the best of the best in the United States,” said Kent Smith, Health First’s Board Chairman and Interim CEO.

“There is simply no better validation for the quality and success of an organization than from the feedback of its employees and customers. Health First has a tremendously proud, engaged and dedicated team – and our customers can rest assured that the care they receive is reflective of that positive environment. I’m so proud of every physician, associate, volunteer or community stakeholder that have made this honor possible.”

“Culture is the temperature gauge – the lifeblood – of an organization, and this year’s Best Employers ranking is most certainly reflective of the positive culture that more than 10,000 Health First associates and volunteers have built here in Brevard County,” said Health First Chief Experience Officer Paula Just.

“We have an important tagline – or rally cry – that we live by: ‘The Future is Well.’ I believe this year’s amazing poll results so perfectly reflects that key phrase. Our customers and associates have built this success, and we share this honor with them today.”
