BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Newly-appointed Brevard Public Schools Acting Superintendent Sue Hann has been a BPS leader since joining the school district in 2015, and in her temporary role, Hann said, “the team will be strongly focused on completing the school year with fidelity and preparing for School Year 2023-2024.”

Earlier this week, Hann was appointed acting superintendent after the Brevard Public School Board voted unanimously to place interim BPS Superintendent Robert Schiller on administrative leave.

“The budget proposal we are developing now will set the foundation for continuing to focus on academic success in the future.”

Hann started at BPS as Director of Planning and Project Management before becoming Assistant Superintendent for Facilities Services in 2018. She has financial and operational expertise, a focus on strategy development and execution, and has been a leadership development instructor and mentor.

Before coming to BPS, she served the City of Palm Bay as Public Works Director, Deputy City Manager and City Manager.

“Ms. Hann has a wealth of professional experience in Brevard County and at BPS that makes her the best choice for this position,” said School Board Chairman Matt Susin. “We are thankful that she has taken on the role of Acting Superintendent. As a father of four wonderful daughters, I am proud that Ms. Hann is the first female Superintendent for BPS. She sets a wonderful example for my girls and all young women.”

Hann said she plans to remain as Acting Superintendent until a permanent superintendent is in place.

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve the community, the Board and our employees. Brevard is my home, and I am privileged to be a part of the BPS team.”

A graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Hann also has a Master’s in Business Administration from Florida Institute of Technology and attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government.
