Florida Tech Machine Shop Manager William Bailey Named Most Valuable Panther for March

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – William Bailey, manager of machine shop operations, has been named Most Valuable Panther for March.

In announcing the award, the Office of Human Resources said:

“William Bailey joined Florida Tech in 2003 as a machinist, becoming a supervisor in 2007 and then manager of machine shop operations in 2013.”

“He designs, fabricates, and maintains mechanical and electronic systems in support of research projects and education programs. From welding to milling, he is always there to teach and help anyone who needs it. He teaches students how to utilize the machinery in the shop safely and properly.”

“Bill not only supports the senior design students but also works with the clubs, especially the SAE Formula Team. He comes in on weekends and after hours to assist students before competitions and senior design showcases. He also assists facilities with his welding skills.”

“Since 2020, he has run the shop with only student help, seeing this challenge as an opportunity to train and teach. This makes Bill Bailey our Most Valuable Panther.”
