Police Officer Joey Hamm is Titusville’s Citywide Employee of the Month for Assisting Elderly Homeless Woman

BREVARD COUNTY, TITUSVILLE • FLORIDA– Congratulations goes to Titusville Police Officer Joey Hamm for being awarded March Citywide Employee of the Month on March 28, during a City Council Special Recognitions meeting.

Officer Hamm, a five-year veteran of the Titusville Police Department, received this prestigious recognition in response to an incident that occurred on a rainy day this past February when he assisted an elderly female in a wheelchair on Garden Street.

The female was recently released from the hospital, in her 70s, homeless, and in a wheelchair as it began to rain. Officer Hamm responded but did not request assistance, and out of the kindness of his heart decided to purchase a hotel room two miles away with his own funds.

The woman’s wheelchair did not fit in his patrol vehicle and without hesitation, Officer Hamm pushed her wheelchair in the rain two miles to the hotel.

This incredible act of kindness was viewed by several citizens. The public took it upon themselves to share his good deed unbeknownst to Officer Hamm, as he did not boast about his above-and-beyond service to our community.

This recognition is a public acknowledgment of Officer Joey Hamm’s incredible work ethic and unsurpassed commitment to the members of our Titusville community.
