BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The City of Melbourne will be hosting two cleanup sites as part of the International Coastal Cleanup 2023 event, on September 16, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Ballard Park, 924 Thomas Barbour Drive: Volunteers will clean along the bank, on the water, and around the park. Kayaks and other small vessels are welcome.
Riverview Park, Scurrah’s Landing boat ramp, 2421 Riverview Drive: This is a waterway-only site. Volunteers must provide their own kayak, paddleboard, or other small marine vessel.
Check-in for both sites will be at 8 a.m.
The City encourages participants to bring a pair of gloves, water to stay hydrated, snacks, proper clothing for rough terrain, and sunscreen or a hat.
The two site locations will have water from a large 5-gallon jug available. Participants must bring their own water bottles.
International Coastal Cleanup began more than 30 years ago when communities rallied together with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering their coastlines.
