BREVARD COUNTY • GRANT, FLORIDA – Payton’s Playspace in Grant-Valkaria will conduct a 5-day community project with well over 200 volunteers putting on their work boots and braving the Florida elements to make this playground come to life.

To volunteer, contact Katie Wood by text or phone at 904-955-3482.

The Grant-Valkaria Community Park is undergoing an overhaul of their playground area with the generous assistance of local volunteers. This heartwarming initiative was inspired by Tim & Jess Watson, long-time members of the community who lost their young daughter in 2022.

They began gathering donations to enhance the playground in her memory, and with the town, have joined forces with Play by Design. A company that works hand in hand with communities to design, organize, and construct playgrounds, Play by Design will direct the volunteers to ensure a safe and complete playground by week’s end.

Payton’s Playspace is envisioned as a nature-inspired haven, thoughtfully crafted to seamlessly blend in with the surrounding natural habitat. We plan to provide a magical space that stimulates imaginative play with the inclusion of fairy playhouses, musical flowers, and whimsical, yet simple, features.

The playground will feature paved pathways, play equipment, and strategic spaces tailored to three different age groups with a secure perimeter fence and comfortable seating to ensure that children and caregivers can enjoy a safe and relaxed environment.

Furthermore, our playground is designed to be inclusive and accessible to all, with sensory play elements, wheelchair-accessible surfaces, and textures that are safe for exploration and play, ensuring that everyone can join in on the fun.

This project is made possible solely through the generous financial, product, and service donations of our community, as well as the invaluable contributions of our volunteers.

The community is invited to attend the Ribbon Cutting and Opening Ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m.
